Cattery CAVALLINO is a Maine Coon cattery located in Chou-fu city, Tokyo.
How we came to know the wonderful breed "Maine Coon"!
It was year 2000 when I met my first Maine Coon. She was a rescued MC, 2 years old and was pregnant. She smoothly joined my human family, delivered her own kittens and raised them. Really was a easy going girl and also was clever.
Yes, she was a "Gentle Giant" girl and led me to love this breed.
From 2003, we started to go to the CFA Cat Shows and became a breeder from 2004.
Big and long body, easy going personality, are the important target besides the health.
As we raise each of kittens under our foot so not so many kittens are born per year.
Health:
We think the most important thing is "Health"
All of our cats are tested HCM gene test and are negative for MyBPC3 Mutation
When the kittens becomes 2 months old, they get their first vaccine shot. And then a month later they are taken to the vet again to have the second shot.
So they all have at least 2 times to meet their vet. This would be a great help them to let the vet know about their condition.
And the followings are done annually:
Food:

As we think the food is one of the important item to keep the members health, our cats and kittens all eat both dry premium food and raw meat. We use horse meat for the raw food.

For us, one of the fun and important reason of attending the shows is to exchange and correct the information about Maine Coon. To know about the recent health issues keep us updated. And also to know the current standards help our breeding plans.
